AeroOne™ Newsletter

December 2024

Dear Aeros:

How time flies. With Thanksgiving coming late this year, can you believe Christmas is just around the corner? Before you know it, a new year shall be upon us. I think it is safe to say 2025 will bring "interesting times".

On that note, I have been asked frequently what I think the effect of a Trump presidency will be on aviation. I have some thoughts, which I will share after January 20.  (Hint:  I  believe the US has the potential to enter into a prolonged period of prosperity but that will likely come with significant short term pain. If you believe history repeats, you may wish to look up the Reagan years 1980-82.)

One last thing--I ran into a good friend boarding the same float plane as me to get home to family on Thanksgiving. He told me that the week prior he needed to travel from Victoria to Calgary but there were no direct outbound flights available.. It took him nine hours with a YVR layover to complete the leg that used to take a mere 1.5 hours. (Remember I said a few months ago that commercial airlines are looking to save costs by cutting back on secondary routes?) As a businessman who must travel throughout the Pacific North West regularly, my friend volunteered to me that it''s getting more and more frustrating. Maybe a letter to Santa for a private jet is in order?

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe holiday season. May 2025 bring health, happiness and much success.

Happy Flying,
Roger Proctor, CEO
PS:  The Jet of the month feature will resume in January. Also coming up will be an expose on the roll out of face recognition scanning at major airports and airlines.  The good, the bad, and the ugly.

YVR - PSP - YVR. XO v. AeroOne

Three of AeroOne's management team recently travelled to Palm Springs and L.A. for a sales meeting and client meeting, respectively. Below is a cost comparison between charter (XO) and AeroOne. A light jet option was utilized in each instance. The AeroOne cost includes pilot costs.

XO

$45,280.00

AeroOne
$21,030.00

Note:  With XO the aircraft does not hold. Repositioning fees are charged. With AeroOne the jet stays with the passengers/owner. This allowed the group to make an unscheduled stop in L.A. easily and at little additional cost, in order to meet a brand new client before heading home.  Not possible with XO.

AeroOne's cost is 51 percent less than XO.  Factoring in the last-minute L.A. leg that cost is probably at least 75 percent less given the charter quote did not include the L.A. segment.

Bottom line, if you need flexibility, owning a jet is the way to go provided you fly more than 50 hours a year..
