Message From our President
Dear Aeros:
For those of us who are not yet multi-billionaires our travel budget is not limitless. So, last month, when I had to go to Toronto alone for my mandatory continuing legal education seminar I chose Air Canada ("AC") Signature Class...on points. Not having flown domestically with Air Canada since January 2020 I was curious how the experience would be. Check it out.
The outbound leg was as expected. Total time from entering YVR airport to departing YYZ was 6h45m. The flight departed on time. In contrast, my 35A gets me there nonstop directly to my car in at 3h45m. So basically AC is twice the time. But I was not in a rush this trip. Catering was mediocre but as expected, entertainment decent, lie-flat seat was getting old and worn, but overall a pleasant, uneventful experience, and best of all--it was free!
The return journey was another story. We were scheduled to depart YYZ at 19:30 but the day before I was informed that departure had been moved up to 18:30 necessitating a post meeting mad dash to the airport in Friday rush hour traffic. The rush was all for not. We didn't end up pushing back from the gate until 19.50, 20 minutes AFTER the originally scheduled departure time. Onboard I was seated in 1K. The flight attendant serving me was a surly woman dressed in full hazmat gear and blue rubber gloves. The drink service and meal service were all jammed together. Hazmat lady attempted to remove my half eaten meal and full wine glass the moment I wasn't looking, midway through the flight. When I said something she told me to "stop being so rude." I am SuperElite for life no less. If an AeroOne staff person ever treated an owner or guest this way, they would be fired on the spot. I was so disgusted with the service I wrote the Super Elite desk four weeks ago. Still awaiting a response. Considering a full fare Toronto round trip ticket can cost more than $6,500.00 we desperately need more competition in Canada.
For New Years the two of us are flying to Paris and have chosen Air France ("AF"), as revenue customers over Air Canada points. For us, the savings are just not worth enduring AC for a long haul. Oh, and by the way, AC full fare business class tickets to Paris are twice, that's right, 100 percent more expensive than the same booking class with AF. It pays to wean yourself off the insidious airline loyalty programs:
For the time being airlines will still be part of the equation for me on long-haul international destinations. There is still some value out there. But I am done with commercial domestically and cross-border.
Stay tuned for our January Private Jet Market Report. Our Newsletter will be broadcast a week after the holidays on Wednesday, January 10.
Also, please enjoy our new monthly feature to the Newsletter--the Aircraft Comparison Report where we compare two or more aircraft of the same category and give our recommendation.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a very prosperous New Year. May your private jet dreams come true in the coming year.
Private jets are not luxury. They are a necessity for business people like us.
Happy Flying

Preowned Aircraft Market Mini Update
Prices and availability of pre-owned aircraft on the market today reflect an impending economic downturn.
Light jets - Prices remain elevated and firm. Demand still outweighs supply.
Medium jets - Balanced market, prices remain firm, but supply growing.
Heavy jets - Soft market, buyer's market. Supply high and not much is selling.
We are currently tracking 18 Global Expresses for sale, 5 off market but available.
If you are considering buying within the next 12 to 15 months, I would highly recommend you start looking now but do not commit to anything yet. We are here to help you with this important decision. In my experience waiting til the market has bottomed is not prudent either. I bought mine in March, 2020 at the start of the pandemic. By the end of the pandemic my aircraft had appreciated 40 percent in value. It is now 2x.
Also as a reminder, if you earn your money in the US, buying before December 31, 2023 but structuring correctly can make for a good tax plan.
A more extensive Market Update is planned for January's Newsletter.
So call us and let us know your thoughts.
