JellyCat Jack, sittin back, buckled up for Easter weekend fun in the sun! Why is this relevant? Because jet owners (unlike charterers) rarely fill all the seats.  We are belted for 7 passengers but rarely take off at even half capacity. Why is this important to know? Oftentimes advertised aircraft focus on seat capacity. Heavy jets (Like this month's AeroOne Jet of the Month) are notorious for flaunting 14 to 18 seat legal capacity.  (See Bombardier's latest Global 7500 in a crowded 14 seat configuration.) Assuming you are not a rock band, why would you ever need that density? And if you charter your jet out to earn extra revenue you definitely do not want rock bands or bachelor parties going nuts on board.  No damage deposit is big enough to cover that wear and tear. At AeroOne we believe in efficient use of excess time by booking charter revenue but careful screening is essential and lower capacity aircraft generally attracts a higher calibre charter clientele.  

I have taken a Global Express on long legs. We were four with a 10 passenger capacity. Why is this ideal?  Because when you are flying for 12 or more hours non-stop you want to be able to stretch out in a three cabin configuration, each guest with lie flat seats plus an owner's queen sized bedroom in the aft cabin. Space for everyone to spread out, relax and rest up for the destination adventures. Shower onboard in the morning and get on with your day.    We recommend not more than a 10 pax cabin on Globals and G650s. But, it's your choice. We design and build to suit. 

At the end of the day, no matter how many friends or colleagues you have, no matter what sized jet you own, in our experience it's like herding cats to find people with compatible schedules to coordinate flying together.  JellyCat Jack excepted of course. Jack's rarin to go anywhere, anytime.

Speaking of Jack, last week he flew Vancouver to Kelowna in 22 minutes, door-to-door, at a cruise speed of 570 mph. JellyCat Jack is a cool cat.

Check out April's Aircraft of the Month. It's currently available and priced to sell. This is such a value offering.  The Global 7500 featured in the Conde Nast Traveller link above retails new for $77,000,000.00 but you can buy ours for 1/10th the cost. Once the interior is refreshed (priced into the deal) it will look every bit as good.  In my opinion, the AeroOne option is attractive unless you are Elon Musk or a Fortune 100 company that need sizeable tax offsets. (Remember, you can write off 100 percent of the capital cost in Year One if you are reporting in the US.)

PS.  Yesterday, Air Canada charged my partner almost as much for one return ticket YVR --YYC as the total operating cost for my jet to go there and come back with a seven seat capacity---$2,400 v. $3,200. Calgary of all places! A 45 min flight with my jet.  Shysters. They have reduced capacity, reduced service level, reduced the benefits on Aeroplan, packed their lounges,  and are jamming flights with usurious fares. Gonna get worse.
